"Project Storm" Demo

Hello! Welcome to my demo for "Project Storm". This demo features the early concept of a game that involves the player fighting against the forces of nature to keep their spaceship and their local space station from being destroyed. This demo is a continuation of a game that was made for Brackeys Game Jam "2024.2", where the driving theme was "Calm Before The Storm". For more information about the demo and how to play, scroll down to the sections below.

Lastly, as a struggling indie developer, I could use all the help I can get. So, if you think this demo was worth your time, I would greatly appreciate any small donation to help support further development. The plan is to continue developing the features of this product and push it to its final polished version.

Thank you for your time, and enjoy the demo!

Platforms:

  • Demo is available to play in any browser, on any PC or mobile device.
  • Mobile support is experimental, so for best results, demo should be played on a PC.

  • Survive the storm without letting the station or the ship's integrity reach 0.

How to Play:

  1. Keep the Station Repaired:

    • Fly toward the station to repair the station by 1 point.
  2. Keep the Ship Repaired:

    • Fly toward a storm shelter when the player ship needs to be repaired or protected from the storm.
    • Entering a storm shelter will automatically slow the player ship.
    • The player ship can be slowed down to a full stop while in a storm shelter.
    • Coming to a full stop in a storm shelter will activate the storm shelter (which protects the player ship from the storm and slowly repairs any damage to the ship's integrity).
  3. Survive the Storm:

    • The storm comes in 3 waves.
    • There is a 1-minute "calm" period before each storm wave for the player to repair the station and the ship before the next wave arrives.
    • A storm wave lasts 1-minute and does damage over time to the station and the player ship's integrity.
    • The damage of the storm ramps up with each storm wave.
    • Survive the storm to complete the mission.

Additional Notes:

  • Note 1: For the best possible experience while playing on PC, do not switch browser tabs while in the middle of a play session (otherwise the music won't line up with the storm).

  • The majority of the assets, besides the "upheaval" font, were designed and developed by Christopher Hart-Cavanaugh.
  • The "upheaval" font was a freeware font developed by the creator "Brian Kent".
